Flower Garden Path

Designing and selecting plants for different garden situations is the one thing I enjoy doing the most.

I also know how to design and plan beds and borders that have color the entire growing season, and are beautiful.

You’ll find many pre-planned beds and borders for many situations that I personally designed, with detailed planting instructions.

You’ll also find pictures of gardens and detailed plant and flower information.

Below is a picture of me, Annelie Piccino, in my garden of roses and perennials. Gardening and growing perennials and roses is my passion in life, and I am a proud member of the American Rose Society and The Gardening Club of Los Angeles.

Growing Information

The main reason to grow recurrent plants and flowers is because of their longevity.

If you provide proper plant care, they can live longer than 15 years.

The Peony, a lovely fragrant spring flowering perennial, can live over one hundred years.

I have one in my garden that was planted in 1925, and it still flowers with abundance.

Most of these plants should be divided every 3-4 years, to continue to produce lots of blooms.

Dividing the plants gives you the opportunity to add to your plant collection or share them with friends and family.

An Early Summer Perennial Garden

In a garden with many perennial plants, you’ll have flowers that come back year after year.

They provide the garden with its foundation plants that give grand perfomances that can be counted on to peak at different times of the growing season.

Flower Tips

  • Read the tags when choosing your plants to find out when the flowers will be at their showy best. Some have blooming cycles lasting any where from a week to over a month.
  • Mix early, mid- and late-season flowering plants for colorful flowers throughout the season.
  • Use annuals such as pansies and violas to fill in the gaps between flowers such as cool weather hellebores, creeping phlox and columbine and summer blooming plants.
  • Plant warm season annuals like petunias, zinnias and coleus to keep color going as peonies, daylilies, salvia and coneflower cycle in and out.
